Belguim, Netherlands & Luxembourg

Starting in 1944, the countries of BElgium, NEtherlands and LUXembourg established a cooperative politico-economic union hence the entity known as BENELUX.  BENELUX accounts for 5.6% of Europe's population and 7.9% of the joint EU GDP while only being 1.7% of the total land area in the EU.  They maybe small but they are mighty - not only as an economic force but also for tourism.

Belgium

Belgium was once described as a medium sized country with small cities that have long histories.  The Flemish north gave the world beautiful art and lace.   The southern Walloon region contributes great beer and waffles.  And picturesque cities everywhere.

Netherlands

Despite it's small size, the Dutch were highly influential on the world's civilization in part because of their naval explorations.  Contributions of engineering, and agriculture amongst others still set Dutch cultural apart today.  The engineering of windmills & dykes reclaimed land from the sea.  Land used for sheep & cows that produce milk;  that is made into famous Dutch cheeses, and incorporated expertly into chocolates.  And don't forget the flat land is perfect biking and the production of flowers and bulbs that Holland is know for.

Luxembourg

Easily overshadowed by all it's neighbors, the culture of Luxembourg offers travelers a unique experience.  Whether it's architecture, cuisine or wine, Luxembourg has taken the best of it's neighbors and made it their own.
