America's nationalized passenger train system - Amtrak has transport to almost every state in the continental US (sorry South Dakota).  National Parks, major metropolitan areas and every variety of American landscape imaginable.  

There are numerous tourist railways spread out across America.

Canada

VIA Rail runs the entire length of the country from Atlantic Maritime provinces to the Pacific Coast in British Columbia.  There is one line that runs from Winnipeg north to Hudson Bay - the most spectacular way to view Northern Lights and polar bears.
